    – Who we are –

I’m Kinga from Poland, the owner, active breeder and handler of Jindo dogs and Shibas.
I am fascinated by Jindos, their temperament, slightly wild nature, primitive appearance, but most of all their loyalty to the owner.
In 2016, I built a website about dog breeds from FCI group V, section 5 – SesameHouse, which I run until today. It helps me to expand my knowledge about these amazing dogs, and by the way I promote less known breeds in Poland, i.e. Jindo, Thai Bangkaew Dog or Kintamani-Bali Dog.

In 2018, I had the opportunity to take part in the creation of a beautiful Polish book about all breeds from the FCI group V – Szpice i psy w typie pierwotnym. Psy rasowe V grupa FCI, specifically in the sections on Jindo and Shikoku.
My first Jindo – Haru [Taesan], arrived in 2017 from Jindo Island as the first Jindo dog in Poland. Bomi [Bomi of Noryeong Sanmaek] was next, imported from Korea in 2020. Our first litter was born in 2021 under the kennel name Yuukitohokori (FCI) and then our real adventure began 🙂
At the end of 2022, I built Korea Jindo Dog | Polska, a Polish educational project about the breed, which may become a club in the future.
At the same time, together with Rebecca we came up with the idea of creating a place for all European enthusiasts, lovers, owners and breeders of Jindo dogs and for those for whom the preservation of this breed is a real matter. This is how the EKJA was born, which we create together with Terhi.
My love affair with dogs started before I can remember but I was 14 years old before I had my own real dog. He was a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and meant the world to me. However, getting him didn’t deter my obsession in fact it probably made it worse. I’m now the proud owner of a team of working huskies and also my beloved Jindo’s. I stumbled across the Jindo by accident after doing some research on Akitas and that was it I was hooked. It was 5 years before I got my first one ‘Ghost’ she started it all for me, my kennel name ‘Yulyeong’ is named after her. My obsession with dogs is now focused on one breed ‘The Jindo Dog’ and it’s taken me on many adventures with hopefully many more to come. My kennel currently comprises of 7 Jindo’s, ‘Ghost’ my original from the Morningcalm kennel, three dogs which were imported from South Korea, Cracker and Puzzle from the ‘Goya’ kennel on Jindo island and ‘Champ’ from the Noryeong Sanmaek kennel.

These four dogs are the foundations of my kennel and my imports really opened up the gene pool for me and gave me a lot more options to increase the diversity within in my kennel and also the breed in Europe. The remaining three dogs are breed by myself and wear the ‘Yulyeong’ Kennel name, Rocky Zelda and Xena.
Although my kennel is based in Oxfordshire in the UK and Jindo’s cannot become English champions we have had many successes in Europe, with some of our dogs becoming international Champions, Irish Champions and Croatian Champions. I’m really excited about the future of the Korean Jindo outside of South Korea, more specifically England and Europe. My aim is to introduce the Jindo dog to as many people as possible and to make it a more recognised breed. I’m looking forward to its future.

My name is Terhi and I am 36 years old. I live in western part of Finland in a small town with my dogs. I have a master’s degree in animal breeding and a minor in heritability science. I work as a breeding adviser and genetic technician with pigs. I listen to heavy metal, read sci fi, have a kayak and I am totally a nerd.
My parents have always had dogs, so I have always had dogs around. Mostly mix breeds and a finnish spitz. I have akitas, but they are not a healthy breed, so I started to look for something else. I looked at a smaller, healthier and more active breed and found jindo. I wrote to breeders that I found and after about a year on the waiting list I got Poppy (Liubice Babushka) from England at the end of 2016.

In Finland we have only two jindos. Poppy and Darwin (Yulyeong Tiddlywinks). Hopefully I can import more and one day have puppies. At this moment I breed akitas on a small scale under Frostlady’s kennel name.
I love jindos because they are a hunting dog breed, very active but can calm down. They want to work with the owner and are “one man’s dog” as they pick their own human and bond with that one and only. For me jindo is soft and easy to train. Very independent and smart. Also of course the smaller size, pointy ears and multiple colour options are extra points. My jindos have been on dog shows and on agility courses but I think they can be trained on anything.
I am happy to be chairman of the Finnish jindo club and help to introduce the jindo breed to new people. 😊
